The design for BLT Steak - Waikiki is a re-interpretation of a brand centered on exquisite, inventive cuisine that brings traditional French technique to a contemporary American typology. The service is detailed and attentive but seemingly informal. The overall scheme distills this conceptual foundation into a material-spatial language that is contemporary and urbane yet welcoming, timeless and fresh. The kitchen is configured to present the process of preparing food to the visitor. Patrons are seated in a series of open yet intimate rooms with an easy circulation and flow between the more formal dining rooms, the bar and exterior dining terraces. Furnishings, fabrics and large format art installations reference the colors, patterns and textures of Honolulu.
