The guiding principle behind the Garden Villa's design is the cultivation of a seamless indoor/outdoor experience. Staggered stone walls frame a heavily planted exterior corridor and extend into the interior, dematerializing the boundary. This loosely defined spine anchors the low, cubic volumes of the private and service rooms on either side and culminates in a large, open living space enclosed only by a curvilinear line of operable glass and an expansive, floating roof. The architecture is strong yet subservient to and supportive of the landscape and the overall reading is one of horizontality rather than vertical imposition.
